My Entry Into a Flash Game Competition

A couple of months ago I announced I would be entering a Flash Game Design Competition at JayIsGames.com. I finished my game and submitted it.

I'm fairly certain I won't win considering the caliber of submissions, but it's so fun seeing and playing the games submitted, and it was fun creating something for a competition. My game did not make it as a finalist, but I updated it, and I think it's better than the original. I added obstacles, more planets, sounds, etc.

If you are an online gamer or game creator, JayIsGames.com is a great place to visit.

Here's my entry for the competition. The theme is "Ball Physics". My interpretation was to use a ball that you can click on to make it bounce, except I changed the ball into an astronaut. You have to click the astronaut to make him jump into space to gather space debris, but he runs out of oxygen, so you have to gather oxygen tanks at the same time.

Many of the entries to this competition are using a ball graphic. Some are implementing ball physics, some are not so much. I started with a ball, but then conceptualized and came up with the astronaut. I think that makes it more interesting than just a ball bouncing around.

My favorite game entries so far for this competition are:

Day of the Bobteds

The Tall Stump

Roll

Angular Momentum
Osmosis

Contour (my personal pick as winner)

Heavy Metal Goreblood Extreme of Death 800X

Particle Blaster

Bubbles 2

What do you think?
1. What did you think of my game?
2. What did you think of the other games?
3. What is your age and gender?
